Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers! The blogging day has begun.
Well, yesterday I did take a bus to Armand’s in Little Italy. But before I did, I strolled across the street to the dollar store and purchased two sauce pans for only $7.00 (I spent more than I wanted to but I needed the pans). I think $7.00 for two sauce pans is pretty good. See I needed deeper pans to cook my ramen noodles in…
Okay, I admit this is not earth shaking information; but it means I can continue my move to a more vegetable, grain based diet. I can drop a little diced carrots and green peppers into the boiling water with the noodles and in three to five minutes I’ll have a meatless meal ready to eat. And the more meatless meals I eat the better will be my cholesterol and blood pressure, both which I need to lower.
Nothing has changed at Armand’s. I didn’t think it would. I like it that way. I go to Armand’s to relax. I go to Nico’s in Little Italy to rock. I plan to be at karaoke at Nico’s the first Saturday night in December. I’m doing my deep breathing and stretching exercises and I have several songs–The Doors–that I’m working on…
So, I sat on my favorite stool at the bar next to the window in Armand’s and I drank a can of beer and ate a bag of peanuts and watched a silly scifi movie on the television at my end of the bar as I kept watch on chilly but sunny Liberty Avenue. Since it was late morning, there were only a couple of other customers in Armand’s.
Since I’ve been retired, I’ve noticed that I’ve become more and more age conscious. The funny thing is, I’m more conscious of my age at Armand’s where the bartenders and much of the clientele are in my age group than I am age conscious at Nico’s where the bartenders and most of the clientele are young enough to be my children and in some cases even young enough to be my grandchildren.
I guess rock ‘n’ roll makes me feel young.
