“Read, study, write…” is an excellent motto for an erotic flash fiction writer to live by.Hello, my brother and sister bloggers, poets, readers and writers from all over the world! The Old Soldier is about to stroll into Little Italy for a corn beef brisket for his crock pot. It’s going to be a partly sunny, mild (high around 70) autumn day in Pittsburgh.
But first I want to put up this post. I have difficulty believing that a person who does not love to read and who does not study the craft of writing can be a good writer. All of the authors whose work I grew up on, read and studied the craft of writing obsessively.
It is my contention that no matter how much formal education or lack of formal education a writer may have, he or she is really self-taught. Writing is one of those vocations in which you have to do it yourself.
Of course, the amount of time a writer can use to read, study and write depends on each writer’s circumstances; but the time has to be found. Or, the writer’s creativity and talent will slowly expire from a lack of nurturing.
Read, study, write…
