Another sleepless night on the sofa. I sleep on the sofa because my bedroom is without windows and is so small I feel enclosed. My living room/kitchenette is five times larger than my bedroom and it has two nice size windows that face in different directions. I keep the venetian blinds down at night but open so I can see the sky. The back of my workstation is behind my head when I sleep on the sofa.
Now that I’m retired I have no real schedule which is one reason I find myself sleepless at night. I nap during the day. I eat when I’m hungry.
Well meaning people always suggest that I get a little job to earn a little money and to give my life a little more structure. It’s good advice.
Before I took early retirement at 62, I spent my life working for other people so that I could earn enough money to pursue my real passions: film, music and writing. I was always looking towards the future.
Well, the future is here. And now blogging is my passion. And I’m not going to live in the future any longer, because there isn’t much future left. So, I’m going to pursue my passion for blogging full time and live in the here and now and if that means I have to do without a few creature comforts and spend more sleepless nights on the sofa, I’ll gladly do it.
PS This year for the first time the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette will begin to operate in the black.
Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers all over the world with a special hello to all my fans in Scandinavia and Russia! Guy Hogan is my name and blogging is my game.
What adventures in blogging will we share today?
Last night I was laying on the sofa on my back with two pillows under my weary head watching YouTube (no sound) and listening to the local 24/7 sports talk show on the radio. I tried to watch a couple of silent films, but my heart really wasn’t in it. However, the discussion on the radio was interesting.
The odds are against the Steelers winning tomorrow: too many star players are either missing or are badly injured.
Time will tell…
