Hello hello hello, all my fans who live all over the world with a special shout-out to all my fans in Saudi Arabia!
How’s everyone doing?
The Old Soldier got some fun money today. You know what that means. I was back on my beat in Little Italy, drinking beer at Armand’s and thinking deep thoughts about life and writing and watching Liberty Avenue for women wearing yoga pants.
I’m sorry to report that I saw no women wearing yoga pants even though it was a partly sunny day in the 50s.
So, I had a couple of beers and ate a couple of bags of peanuts and shot the breeze with a couple of the regulars. Before I went to Armand’s, I did some food shopping at the supper market in Little Italy and I picked up some ground meat and a carrot.
When I got home I cut up the carrot and cut up part of a green pepper that was in the refrigerator and I threw the pepper and the carrot into the ground meat and simmered everything on top of the stove and when the ground meat was brown I drained it all and then took a can of spaghetti sauce from my stock pile and I threw that in the pan and let it all simmer until I had a nice batch of spaghetti sauce for later in the week.
And as I was doing all of this and sipping on a can of beer, I was listening to the local all-news radio station (KQV) and the announcer said the Rolling Stones were going on tour. The tour was an American tour of 15 cities and Pittsburgh was one of the cities. Who says an old man can’t rock? I rock. You rock. He, she and it rocks.
No, I can’t afford to go.
But the Stones will be here on June 20th. How cool is that?
This is the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh.
