Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers! How’s everyone doing? Well, this is the first full day of my downtime. I won’t be back on my regular beat in Little Italy until the first day of next month. But my downtime is a time for reflection, a time to recharge my batteries. It’s a time to clean my apartment and to concentrate on blogging. It’s also a time to search out and find interesting books at the public library to read. Yesterday, I checked out INVENTOLOGY, How We Dream Up Things That Change The World by Pagan Kennedy.
I’ve only read a few pages of this book, but I can tell it’s a keeper. Yesterday, I also returned the book on Hugh Hefner and Playboy Magazine. I was mainly interested in Playboy as a one-person startup. I thought I could pick up a few tips about being the editor/publisher of a girlie magazine. And I did pick up a few good tips that will help me with The Gazette; but I have enough self-awareness to know that The Gazette will never emulate Playboy‘s success. For one thing Playboy is from a different era than the one we live in now. However, the book by Pagan Kennedy is very much of this era we are in right now, an era of computers, online publishing and Big Data.
So, I’m looking forward to reading the book in the hopes of gaining more insights into being the editor/publisher of Pittsburgh’s only magazine of blogging, film, karaoke, short stories, television and the female nude.
Hail to Pitt!
This is Guy Hogan reporting for the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. Today in The ‘Burgh there will be a mix of clouds and sunshine with a high around 90 with a thunder storm here and there. All photos of Rosie Jones were sampled from Egotastic All Stars. If you are not already a regular reader of The Gazette, now would be a great time to bookmark or follow or to subscribe to my little girlie magazine. New content is added on a regular basis. Just look at the front page.
