Last night after karaoke I fell asleep on the sofa listening to the radio and woke up this morning, opened a can of sardines and dropped them in a bowl, added chopped tomatoes and green pepper covered in salad dressing, tore off a piece of bagel and poured myself a glass of beer for breakfast.
That’s what happens when the Old Soldier has too much fun at Saturday night karaoke at Nico’s in Little Italy.
I’m trying to figure out why karaoke packs them in at Nico’s. I know Nico’s has a great atmosphere. Management keeps the lights low in the bar and in the dinning room where karaoke takes place. The place has the feel of a night club. Plus there’s the personality of the DJ.
Most of the karaoke crowd is made up of young people; the older crowd gathers in the small barroom. And there are a lot of women in the place. Women give a different feel to a place. The women feel comfortable to eat, drink, laugh, talk, have fun and be themselves. The women make the Old Soldier feel like he’s back in college.
Well, I’ve got a stock pile of canned sardines. I like sardines. The sardines were on sell. It’s good to know that any morning after Saturday night karaoke at Nico’s I can fix myself a hassle-free breakfast.
Hello hello hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers from all over the world! It’s Superbowl Sunday. I’m going to stay in and listen to the game on the radio. I’ve got plenty of beer in the refrigerator and a Cornish hen in the crock pot. The Old Soldier is determined to make his money last all month long.
I’ll do some more reading of the books I got from the public library about Edgar Allan Poe and his works and work on the magazine until the game comes on. The Old Soldier is excited about being around thirty does from I new computer.
