Every time I shop at the dollar store across the street I just have to blog about it. That’s how bomb the place is. After all, a writer has to eat! That’s right. I said eat. I bought food at the dollar store across the street.
More on this in a moment.
It’s a cloudy day in The ‘Burgh today and the high will be around 37 degrees. The callers and the hosts on 93.7 FM The Fan are driving me to distraction talking about the New England Patriots and Tom Brady’s balls. I should be back on my beat in Little Italy Friday. I’ll stop in at Armand’s for a couple of draft beers and to pick up the latest gossip and a six-pack to go. Saturday night I plan to be at Nico’s in Little Italy for a little karaoke as performance art.
That’s the plan.
Tomorrow I plan to publish the story “Thanksgiving Appetizer” by Clyde Gunn. It will be his first appearance in the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. You don’t want to miss it.
Yes, the dollar store across the street carries food. I bought a package of smoked sausage, a package of hot dog buns, a 1.5 liter plastic bottle of Pepsi and a package of fig bar cookies.
I may have saved only two dollars, but I would have paid more anywhere else.
It’s amazing what these stores carry: everything from food to cooking pans to batteries to clothes to shoes to glassware…I mean they have it all and a lot of it is a dollar or if it’s not a dollar it’s still cheaper than you can get it anywhere else.
Is there a dollar store near you?
