Snow fell on Pittsburgh today. Winter is here. The Old Soldier stayed in his cozy little apartment and doodled about, cooking spaghetti, reading, dozing on the sofa and listening to college football on the radio; while beyond his window the wind blew and the snow fell. The University of Pittsburgh Panthers beat the Orangemen of Syracuse by one point giving the Panthers a 6-5 record and making them bowl eligible. It was a hard-fought football game full of mistakes and great plays by both teams.
The last few days have been one of those strange periods when I did not work on the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. But the Old Soldier has his mojo back and just in time, too. Submissions will open next month and I already have two stories scheduled for publication next month from my circle of writers that I depend on year round for content.
Then there will be more reports on karaoke as performance art and on culture, writing and the erotic flash fiction short story.
Add any insights I may have to offer on how to survive as a writer, I’ve done it for over 40 years, and the December issue of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette will be one you won’t want to miss.
The snow looks so beautiful from my window. Snow covers the trees and the backyards of my neighbors. Snow means winter has definitely come to Pittsburgh.
