I walked the long way around to Schenley Plaza today. I left my apartment in North Oakland and made my way to Carnegie Mellon University. Then I walked down Forbes Avenue to Schenley Plaza. CMU students were out and about in force and there is some new construction on Forbes Avenue near the campus of CMU. The banners on the fences around the construction site said the construction was for CMU.
I was glad I had my plastic bottle of ice with me. By the time I got to CMU I had plenty of ice water to sip. I continued down Forbes Avenue. Everything was bright and sharp in the brilliant sunshine.
There were plenty of people in Schenley Plaza, standing in line at the food booths and sitting at the tables under the pavilion and at the tables on the pathway where the food booths are located.
I looked around, enjoying all the activity, the strong architecture of the buildings of the Pitt campus and all the greenery: leafy trees, shrubs, grass and all kinds of flowers of different colors. I’m definitely looking forward to getting back to my regular beat in Little Italy the last day of this month, but it’s nice to have an alternative to Little Italy’s concrete jungle.
Hail to Pitt!
