Hello, hello, hello, fans of my little girlie magazine who live all over the world! Guy Hogan is my name and blogging is my game.
Before I took early retirement, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I’d become an entrepreneur; but I have and I am. This is how my out of date The Oxford American Desk Dictionary defines entrepreneur: person who undertakes a commercial risk for profit.
Well, that’s me admittedly on a micro level. I’m a micro-entrepreneur.
My projected cost for publishing the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette in 2016 is $360 (domain, 24-hour backup, hosting and paid contributors). My projected revenues for the same period are between $400-$450. (Ha ha ha. What I do, I do for love.) But the fact remains that if my projected margin of profit turns out to be correct (and it may not), my little girlie magazine will be operating in the black for the first time in two years.
As the editor/publisher of the City of Pittsburgh’s only magazine of commentaries, culture, film and television reviews, sexy stories and topless women, I’m constantly studying other more successful online publications, especially publications that use nude women as part of their editorial content.
“treats!” is one of those publications. I subscribe to its weekly newsletter.
This is Guy Hogan reporting from Pittsburgh.
Hail to Pitt!
Today it will be mostly overcast with a high around 30 and the possibility of two to four inches of snow tonight.
PS If you haven’t done so already, I encourage you to bookmark The Gazette or to sign up for a free email subscription today.
