Hello hello hello, all my fans of flash fiction who live all over the world! As the month of August draws to a close, the Old Soldier is counting up his blogging wins and losses for this month.
The biggest loss was my plug-in for links to related articles that show up at the bottom of each post stopped working. The only reason that I can figure out why this happened is that when I updated to the newer version of the WordPress.org blogging platform that I use, the plug-in that I used for the related articles became incompatible. Each plug-in tells the user how high its compatibility goes.
In other words, I updated myself out of the market. And I can’t go back to the lower blogging platform. So there you have it. There will be no links to related articles at the bottom of my newer blog posts until a plug-in with a higher compatibility becomes available. Oh, I could put in the links manually, but that would be an ineffective use of my time. And when you get to be my age, time is precious.
What was my major gain for the month of August? Clicking on the Overview icon on my dashboard for the very first time; and for the very first time getting a true picture of the traffic to this blog.
The visitors for this month are 4,591. The page views are 19,343; and there are still four more days to go. These numbers bring tears of joy to the eyes of the Old Soldier.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Old Soldier salutes you!
