A writer must use his or her eyes to not only look at the world, but to see the world. What do I mean by this?
Hello, my brother and sister writers of erotic flash fiction.
The Old Soldier is feeling philosophical today. Maybe it’s old age; or, maybe it’s the approach of winter. Winters in Pittsburgh can be brutal.
But I digress.
In my mind, to look at the world is passive. To see the world is pro-active. When a writer of erotic flash fiction uses his or her eyes to see the world, that writer is searching. And what is the writer searching for? For expressions, body language, behavior and situations that project the inner landscape of the human mind.
When we writers use our eyes to see, we are trying to figure out what it means to be human. And as writers of erotic flash fiction, we are trying to figure out, what exactly does sex mean?
To look at the act of sex is to write about bodies; but to see sex is to write about humanity.
A writer must use his or her eyes to see the world.
The Old Soldier served in the Vietnam War. My bother and sister veterans, the Old Soldier salutes you!
