I was up before 06:00 am this morning. One of the first things I did was to put up a new Naked News video anchored by Natasha Olenski. Then I brushed my teeth and did my deep breathing, flexibility and stretching exercises. Although I won’t return to Little Italy for karaoke until the first week of next month. I should have a new song by The Doors worked into my repertoire. And it’s just nice to try to stay in some sort of shape.
Tragedy In Florida
I’m grappling with an editorial dilemma. Should the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette cover things like the tragedy in Florida? I mean “girlie magazines” (like Playboy Magazine) have covered serious and tragic events before. I know I know I know, my little girlie magazine is no Playboy…, but I’m sure you get my drift. But for some reason (my instinct) I don’t feel that serious and tragic events are a good fit for The Gazette. I mean websites like Egotastic All Stars don’t cover serious and tragic events. And there are several websites that cover these events better than I could ever cover or even comment about them. I mean covering serious and tragic events is their niche. My niche is blogging, fiction, film and television, karaoke and topless women. And I think I’m pretty good at it…
The New Format
I’ve only had the new format in place for a few days now and the jury is still out on it; but it has already made my job as editor/publisher so much easier. Instead of having 90 posts stuck to the front page and rotating them periodically, I just publish a new post and that’s it. No muss no fuss. I can concentrate on content instead of management. And all the pages have the same number of posts: 18. This means if I publish a new post every day, in 19 days the front page will completely turn over. Search engines love a steady flow of new content. Plus, the bottom of the 18 posts on each page will more or less end where the bottom of the sidebar ends. Hopefully, this will entice more visitors to explore the sidebar.
I haven’t been out yet, but it looks like another beautiful day in The ‘Burgh (sunny and the high will be around 80). I won’t have anymore fun money until July 1st. So, I’ll just listen to some classical music low (it’s on now) on the radio and stretch out on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head and continue to read my thick book on the French Revolution. I’ll probably go for a walk later today, when the sun is not so hot on the streets of the city.
But at no time during the day will the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette be far from my thoughts. It never is…
Hail to Pitt!
