I can’t afford to buy books. For me, books are a luxury. But a writer should read books even if he or she only writes flash fiction. Luckily for me, the main branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the public library, is about a fifteen-minute walk from my apartment building.
The library sits in the middle of the campus of the University of Pittsburgh which is next to Schenley Plaza which is next to Schenley Park.
I have three books checked out right now that I’m reading: Ninja Innovation, The Ten Killer Strategies Of The World’s Most Successful Businesses by Gary Shapiro; Geronimo by Robert M. Utley and The Insurgents, David Petraeus And The Plot To Change The American Way Of War by Fred Kaplan.
All three are excellent. The reading of books goes a long way toward making you a better blogger and a better writer.
My spaghetti sauce is done: ground beef, green pepper, onions and hot sausage in a rich tomato sauce. A writer’s got to eat.
This is the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh.
New Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is published several times a week.
