Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers! It’s your favorite blogger of culture for adults only sleepless in Pittsburgh and reporting for duty.
I woke up a little while ago (3:00 a.m.) on the sofa in a dark living room with a Charlie Chaplin silent film festival on YouTube on my computer screen and the local 24/7 sports talk show turned down low on the radio. This happens quite often. I’m retired. I have no real schedule or at least not one that I have to keep. And after my power nap I felt refreshed. So, I sat down at my workstation and checked a few of my online sources.
Egotastic All Stars had some new photos of Jodie Gasson. I sampled a few for this post…
The Huffington Post had the latest news and opinions. I checked out a few of those…
But it was the Gothamist that captured my full attention. See the Gothamist is a New York City centric blog of news, food, arts, culture and events. (Does this remind you of a certain Pittsburgh centric blog of culture for adult only?)
One of the things that interest me about the Gothamist is the number of posts stuck to the front page: over 100 (it uses lots of videos, too). And the fact that the Gothamist gets millions of visitors every month. (The Gazette now averages around 8,000 visitors every month.)
I recently published post #2,000 here at The Gazette and the number of posts stuck to the front page has slowly evolved from 60 to 86. I feel comfortable with those 86 posts stuck to the front page and I don’t know how much further I want to go.
It all depends on the long-term reaction of my core audience to my little girlie magazine…
Hail to Pitt!
This is Guy Hogan reporting for the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette.
Today in The ‘Burgh there will be more clouds than sunshine with a high around 70.
PS Now back to bed.
