Well-written stories about sex will always be popular.
Hello, all my brother and sister writers from all over the world. The Old Soldier likes to call well-written stories about sex “literary” erotica to distinguish them from poorly written stories about sex. I’m an advocate of literary erotica for two reasons: I write it and I publish the erotica of other writers in this magazine.
I can remember being a very young writer and going into a porno shop in downtown Pittsburgh and finding several shelves of XXX-rated novels along with all the other stuff that you find in a porno shop. The novels were full of unrealistic characters, silly plots, unbelievable sex and streams of profanity.
Fast forward a few years and I discovered Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, Moll Flanders, The Story of O, Autobiography of a Flea and several other literary novels about explicit sex.
Then I discovered flash fiction and blogging and I eventually got the idea of publishing an online magazine that had literary flash fiction erotica at its core. Because, for a publisher, nothing beats hot sex in a well-written short story.
This is the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh.
New Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is an online magazine of creative writing, culture and sex.
