Hello, all my brother and sister readers and writers from all over the world! I don’t know how long karaoke has been around, but I’ve been singing karaoke for at least, I say at least, 15 years.
There are five bars within an eight block radius in Little Italy that have karaoke on different nights of the week. Here are some tips on how to turn your karaoke into performance art. Of course, you have to be a good singer.
- The more songs you can sing from memory, without looking at the monitor or only glancing at it, the more your performance will seem like a concert.
- Don’t just stand there. Move. Groove.
- Just because you sing well and have a powerful voice, don’t over sing, don’t dominate the music. Having a powerful voice proves nothing. Dominating the music makes it sound like karaoke. Learn to listen and to modulate your voice. Your voice should fit in with the music. That way your performance sounds more like a record.
