Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers! Guy Hogan is my name and blogging is my game. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my 12 days of fun (karaoke at Nico’s in Little Italy the first Saturday night of this month and drinking and hanging out at Sonny’s Tavern and Armand’s Bar) and now it’s time to get back to the grindstone of publishing an online girlie magazine.
Well, I’m very happy to report that the circulation of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette continues to grow month after month for the past 12 months. Last month a new high was reached: 6,813 visitors and 19,550 page views.
You know you can’t beat that with a stick! And I thank each one of you, because a magazine ain’t shit without readers.
It’s wonderful to hang out and to be carefree; but there are a lot of mundane details behind the scenes of this publication that now need my attention. For instance, since I’m only going to publish maybe 6-8 paid contributors this year instead of the usual 12, I’m going to put out a special fiction issue in July; but I’m going to pay for the issue with some of my rent rebate check. I received the rent rebate application form several days ago. The sooner I fill out the form and mail it in the better. And I picked today to return three overdue books to the public library. I picked today because there will be a mix of clouds and sunshine and the high will be around 20. Yes, 20. That’s higher than the past few days and will be higher than the next few days. There is a wind advisory for tonight.
Blogging every day and filling out my rent rebate application and returning books to the library are things that get neglected when my pockets are full of fun money.
This is Guy Hogan reporting from Pittsburgh.
Hail to Pitt!
PS I won’t be back at Nico’s for karaoke again until the first Saturday night in March after I get some more fun money.
