Writer, are you down in the dumps? Do you find yourself thinking, what’s the use? Is life crowding out your creativity? Flash fiction may be just what the doctor ordered.
Hello, my brother and sister readers and writers. It’s the Old Soldier here with a few words of encouragement for the frazzled writer.
I know that life is the fountain of creativity. It can also be a wet blanket. One of the beautiful things about flash fiction is that it is the perfect art form for this age of distraction. A writer can produce a well-written flash fiction story with a relatively small investment of time; or, with a sequence of several small investments of time. Just so long as the writer keeps in mind that a flash fiction story is made up of the setup (which should be as short as possible), the buildup (which is the main part of the story) and the payoff (resolution) that writer will be okay.
And his or her creativity will not only survive, but it will continue to thrive. So, don’t despair. Flash fiction is the perfect art form for the world we live in.
