Yes you can have a career as a writer of erotic flash fiction. The Internet is a game changer. There is no way in hell that I could have become the editor/publisher of a girlie magazine that publishes erotic flash fiction if it wasn’t for the Internet in the same way that many writers of erotic flash fiction would never have seen their work in print if it wasn’t for the Internet.
The Internet has made publication more democratic.
Which means that bad and good writers can now see their work in print; but it’s still the good writers who rise to the top. Let me rephrase that. It’s the good writers who study their craft and who are tenuous in finding outlets for their work who rise to the top. Now when I say the top I mean get paid. (Unfortunately, I can pay only about two writers every month.)
So yes you can have a career as a writer of erotic flash fiction. You have to study your craft. You have to find markets that cater to the genre you work in; and then you have to submit your work in a systematic way until you find one or more publications that will pay you for your work.
If you want to get paid like a professional, you have to write, think and act like a professional. Professional writers understand that writing erotic flash fiction is a craft, an art and a business.
Hello, my fans of erotic flash fiction who live all over the world! This is my second post for the day and it’s not even noon yet. So, after I post this I’m going to reward myself. I’m going to walk into Little Italy for a couple of beers at Armand’s on this warm, sunny day in Pittsburgh.
Keep reading that erotic flash fiction.
This is the Old Soldier reporting for the PittsburghFlashFiction, a girlie magazine of art, culture and sex.
