Hello hello hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers! This is your Baby Boomer Papa reporting for duty and I woke up this morning on the sofa as usual with the local 24/7 NPR News station low on the radio and one of the first things I found out was today it will be rainy with a high around 60 and tomorrow it will be rainy with a high around 47 and not the other way around but I digress for I’m looking forward to getting back to my regular beat in Little Italy tomorrow when my check from Mr Skin/Naked News should clear and I hope I’m right about that because I’m getting cabin fever and I need to replenish the well that feeds my creativity which means I just need to get out among some folks for there is only so much creative replenishment you can get from the internet or from books or from the radio for there is no replacement for human contact and the beat goes on…
Well I checked my stats this morning and found out that the Pittsburgh Adult is averaging 994 page views every day for this month so far which I am happy with I truly am happy with but by no way am I satisfied with if you catch my drift and so the question is what can I do to increase the reach of my little magazine of culture for adults only within the limitations that I’m working under for this blog is a one-person publication so anything I do must be sustainable for there is more to life than just blogging as fascinating as I find blogging to be.
At one point in my blogging career I set a goal of posting at least one blog post every day of at least 1,000 words and after a great start I found out I couldn’t do it, it was just too damn difficult to come up with those many words every day for a blog post even though my page views kept going up and up I simply ran out of things to blog about because I don’t live an exciting life which is a very real limitation since I’m more of an autobiographical blogger and writer and my imagination can only take me so far and I was really lucky to rediscover Jack Kerouac and his “spontaneous” method of writing which is really a version of the old “stream of consciousness” method of writing or the old “internal monologue” method of writing that has really released my creativity and has allowed me to blog now almost every day but my posts often fall well below 1,000 words so there it is there it is there it is and like I said I’m happy about the present reach of the Pittsburgh Adult but in no way am I satisfied with its reach and I intend to keep doin’ it doin’ it doin’ it until I’m satisfied if you catch my drift…
Hail to Pitt!
“The Pittsburgh Adult is not a lifestyle blog or a news blog or a blog that will help you solve some practical problem. It’s basically an entertainment blog and it has to connect with its audience as a place to visit to be entertained. This is the task I’ve set for myself.”–Guy Hogan
“Even though I consider the Pittsburgh Adult to be an entertainment blog this does not mean it does not cover serious subjects like the business of blogging and the nature of creativity and the challenges of living alone and the reality of retirement and the ways to save money by shopping at discount stores and the craft and the art of writing flash fiction just to name a few…”–Guy Hogan
