How sweet it is for a writer to see his or her words in print. Every writer who has been fortunate enough to be published knows the feeling. The feeling can be difficult to describe, because a writer’s words are far more than marks on a page.
If a writer is talented enough, dedicated enough and lucky enough, his or her words will represent little imaginative self-protraits of the writer’s inner and outer life that he or she projects outward into the human experience.
Words can be powerful instruments of stability and change. Words do matter. Words can comfort, entertain, educate and inspire. Words can also do great harm.
And the more a writer is aware of what words can do, the better wordsmith that writer will become.
The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is a community of readers and writers who believe in the power of words. And flash fiction is our genre.
Keep reading and writing flash fiction. This is the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh.
