Hello, all my brother and sister writers of erotic flash fiction from all over the world! It’s the Old Soldier here with some thoughts about art, life and writing.
Night has descended on Pittsburgh. The Old Soldier has a belly full of corn beef and now I’m just relaxing, flat on my back with two fat pillows under my weary head, reading my public library books about the Great Elector and his grandson, Frederick The Great as classical music issues low from the radio.
Are you still with me?
Well, you know the Old Soldier. The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is never far from my thoughts. And during a break from my reading, I was trying to come up with a focus word for a new post that began with the letter “Z.” The best I could come up with was “Zebras.” But how could I tie in the word “Zebras” with the themes of this publication: writing, culture and erotica?
I don’t know why, but I started thinking of Andy Warhol. You know Andy Warhol grew up in the same neighborhood that the Old Soldier lives in, right here in Pittsburgh. Then I began to wonder, what would Andy Warhol think of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette?…
I figured Andy would think my little magazine was profane, low-brow with literary and cultural pretensions….
Then in my mind I saw an unsuspecting, snow-white horse trot into The Factory; and then trot out a zebra…Andy would love my little profane, low-brow magazine with literary and cultural pretensions!
That’s what zebras have to do with Andy Warhol.
Keep reading and writing that erotic flash fiction. This is the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh.
